Broken Pieces 5

Barrister Henry wasn’t in the ward with us, he had excused us.

“Beverly, I’m sorry that fate turned out this way, I’m sorry my family ruined yours, I’m sorry I couldn’t be there when you needed me the most, I’m sorry, I’m just a boy trying to be good, but ended up in a despicable act.”

I don’t believe in spirits, but I believe in God as a supreme being. I don’t believe in Ghost stories. But it seems I’d be saying a whole lot of thanks to them. Or let me say, I’m grateful to God for being Just by revealing the truth.

“What are you saying Chigozie? Beverly asked ”

“What I’m trying to say is this, Dad had gone to the police station reporting himself, as the traitor behind the horrible fate that befell us, he was no longer himself when I saw him, he pleaded for mercy, he confessed, Mum ghost had been disturbing him. He could no longer take it.

At first I was angry at Mum, for being so desperate, and trying to sell you off, by negotiating with the Soldier, Mr Ken Osita to rape you.

“Oh No!. No” Beverly wailed.

“I’m sorry Coz, I blamed Mum, not knowing she was trying to save you, I’m sorry I cried out”

Dad had connived with the Soldier, since he had eyes on Beverly, and he was broke, they were drinking partners, and to dad, it was all about the money and nothing more. They had a deal of 50,000 naira, Dad asked the Soldier to call out his wife to give her the money, so Beverly wouldn’t suspect a thing.

Knowing fully well how is wife would react since he hadn’t told her of the deal, so Mum went with Beverly. Mister Ken had lied to Mum that he wanted Beverly to help him clean his house, do his laundry, cook and then leave. It sounded good to Mum. So she immediately called out Beverly to quickly go see Mr Ken the soldier and also thank him that evening, since he had said he’d be leaving for work the next day.

Unfortunately for Mum, while she entered the room, something struck her.

It was then, Jerry entered the room, she had awaken and saw him with a gun, she struggled with him because she didn’t want him to kill anyone, but then, it fired, right Into her chest.

She fell, The Soldier ran off, Beverly Raped, Dad sentenced.

He experienced all these four scenes. He had to live with it. The tales of Beverly being an Orphan was horrible because his father was the one who wrought her fate. Weeks later the news was, his dad was late.

Now he too was now an Orphan. As the saying goes, Evil beget Evil. The turning of the coin left him an Orphan. Jerry and Beverly lived together under the care of Barrister Henry the Family Lawyer, and at age twenty she was the sole heir, but then, he wasn’t all alone, he also was given the opportunity to further his studies. Although Jerry lived with his guilt forever, Beverly lived with the pains and trauma of being deflowered and raped. It was all the broken piece of their childhood they both had to bear

Converted but Unbroken Christians!

Converted but Unbroken Christians! These Christians are converted but they have refused to be broken of themselves to the Will of God! One example we have in the Bible is Jacob! Jacob always loved to do things His own way! Although, he was His covenant child, he still went on to deceive His brother and cheated him out of His right! Later in Jacob's life, God renamed him Israel, which means "he struggles with God." In fact, Jacob struggled with God his entire life, as many of us do. As he matured in faith, Jacob depended on God more and more. But the turning point for Jacob came after a dramatic, all-night wrestling match with God. In the end the Lord touched Jacob's hip and he was a broken man, but also a new man. From that day forward, Jacob was called Israel. And for the rest of his life he walked with a limp, demonstrating his dependence on the Lord. Jacob finally learned to give up control to God. Converted but unbroken Christians are workers of ...

Broken Pieces 3

It was Saturday, I was done with my chores, which were, fetching water from the well, sweeping the parlor and room. Lacing my boot before I head out to the field to play soccer. Dad’s phone began ringing.   “Hello” “Yes, I be Nnamdi, wetin happen?” “Chineke!” “Ewo…. Ewo!” “Ogini?” Mum asked. “Dad what is it? I asked confused” “Jerry” “Sir” “Chigozie” “Sir” “Your Uncle and Aunty just get accident” “Ehh!!!... Chineke me! ……. Life is funny isn’t it? Yeah it is, he bluffed and smiled, as he tried leaning on the prison wall. But it became ridiculous, when he stumbled on the truth. Beverly Parents were dead and buried. The accident that took place was indeed fatal. Beverly Johnson  had become an orphan, just in a twinkle. She began living with us. She had to adapt, for two years, when she’d be twenty years of age, to inherit her Father’s assets, it was willed so, and so it was. She was the only heir, and that left Dad and Mum too creepy. ...

THE COASTER BUS LOVER

Coaster Bus Have you ever boarded a Coaster Bus? If you're in Nigeria, especially Lagos, you will be very familiar with that type of bus, it's common along the Badagry expressway, oshodi - Ikorodu axis, oyinbo etc. and you hear the conductors shouting and clamoring for you to enter like 'Ketu, Ikorodu! Wole pelu change e o' etc. They call passengers in and cramp them in the bus like sardine. The bus is actually a 3 seater with extension for a 4th person on a row but in Nigeria, it has been used as a 5 person per row bus and your body sticks to eachother, no space to feel comfy, you're inconvenient through out the journey. I do take the bus very well, so I can tell you the experience first hand... Now to the content, everybody's is like a coaster bus, where you are meant to accommodate a specified or limited number of people & happenings together but because of greed and indecision; we take more than our capacity and it's affecting our life, making,it ...
